Spending the weekend on our side of the border

Good Evening from Amado, AZ less than 25 miles from the Mexican border. We left Quartzsite around 8 this morning and got to Amado, 286 miles later at 2:30. But in between we stopped for breakfast and diesel.
Leaving Quartzsite we saw this sign. Isn’t this something everyone needs? What a job!
Some RVs are already in their spots out in the desert. Not too many out there yet.
Lucky for us as we were driving east it was really overcast this morning and stayed that way until we were south of Tucson.
And that made it a cooler ride too. That big windshield can really let in the heat from the sun. Last night in anticipation of today’s ride into the sunrise we both were locating our sunglasses. Bill put his right up front easy to get to. And I broke mine! This is the second pair of prescription sunglasses I’ve broken in the last two months. So now I’m down to squinting. Definitely have to get a couple of pair made while in Mazatlan.
We were checking the prices of gasoline and diesel in Mexico – both are higher than here in the U.S. That sure won’t help bring the Rvers back. We paid $3.51 for diesel today in AZ and it is $3.82 a gallon in MX. Gasoline is about 50 cents a gallon higher.
When we stopped for breakfast at a TA truck stop [they have a really good restaurant Country Pride] we had to laugh at a couple of the sayings along the tops of the booth seats. They are hard to read this one says "You know you're from Arizona when you feed your chickens ice cubes to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs."
This one is "Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it." Hummmmm
You got to love desert sunsets!

Tomorrow will be a busy day. We'll go get our Mexican Insurance and some pesos and maybe to a P.O. And we have to be home to watch the last Nationwide race of the season. Right now we’re watching the last Camping World truck race of the season – so I have to close this and post it.

  1. Will you go directly to Mazatlan or stop along the way? Can't wait to get back

  3. Hi Carol and Bill. Drive carefully and enjoy the ride. It is colder this November so winter is losing in. We will miss you guys this year so maybe next year. Be safe
