And the winter continues – woke up with a sore throat
this morning. We’ll spend another day here in Alamogordo ‘cause there is rain from here to
Tucumcari. But right now sunny here in town.
Went back to IHop for breakfast – Bill loves their
lingonberry crepes. Today was a better day for the workers there – seemed to have
enough staff, tables were getting cleaned right away and floor was clean. From
there we took a ride up into the mountains to Apple Annie’s. Advertised Fudge
and Apple Pies.
Turned out to be more of a novelty store. Lots of stuff I
haven’t seen in years. Remember Pokey and Gumby? And potato guns?
Saw these sculptures in front of a gallery of some type.
Looked almost real. And all the antlers too. Reminds me of Jackson Hole, WY
The view of White Sands as we came down the mountain back
into Alamogordo .
Then home to watch Barcelona
finally win a soccer game – they’ve lost the last three. No NASCAR races this weekend.
Then out to drive around White Sands. Could not believe
how many people were out there – hundreds of families enjoying camping, bbq and
playing in the sand.
Just some pictures of the white sand.
Looks like snow.
After leaving there we went looking for a BBQ restaurant
– everyone we found was closed for Easter. Ended up at Applebee’s.
Then to WalMart for a couple of things – I got my Peeps –
yellow ones. But they are too fresh. Poked a hole in the packaging so they will
get hard. And while I was doing this Bill made a whole loaf of texas toast French Bread. Will freeze it for quick breakfasts when we're traveling.
The other day I mentioned that the wood on the cupboards
and refrigerator was separating because of the lack of humidity. I wasn’t
kidding. At least by the time we’ve been home for a while the wood will swell
again and be fine.
Tomorrow we move on – either to Roswell or Tucumcari – haven’t decided yet. New header of White Sands.
Haven't been to Alamogordo. Looks interesting with the white sand. Roswell is fun but do like Tucumcari as well.
