One more day in Vegas

We’re still in Vegas for one more day. The wind this morning was really blowing and yesterday’s storm is going through Arizona today. By tomorrow it all should be settled down. No more excuses – time to go.

Watched the rain delayed NASCAR race, they just aren’t the same without Kyle #18 running. Then a soccer game.

More rain in Vegas

Hum…maybe this idea of moving to Vegas isn’t so good after all.  We are up at six thirty so we can watch a Barcelona soccer game. At home it’s about nine thirty.  And here the NASCAR races are on in the morning instead of the afternoon. Will take some getting adjusted to.

This is Vegas? What’s with the weather? Another cloudy day. (By Wednesday it will be up in the 90s though.)

Today there is 50% chance of rain and it is really dark and gloomy out.  Bill just turned the furnace on! Tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny – hope so as we’ll finally be back on the road.
Was a kind of nice sunset last night though. 

Yesterday we visited one of the mobile home parks again. Looked at some of their new models – very nice. Leaning more and more in that direction. But of course all depends on what we can do in Indiana.

Then we went to visit our youngest son and his wife for a while. They are moving today – hope the rain goes away.

Not related to us or our travels but something we saw on TV. Did anyone know there is a campground in Colorado Springs that has one of the largest BUG – insect - museums in the world.  Here is the info about it.   Really interesting.

Today we need to run some last minute errands for groceries and I want to get a hair cut. Maybe have dinner in our favorite restaurant so we can get some deserts for the trip! Then get everything inside put back where it belongs for traveling.

Just read that the lady who designed the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign just passed away. She was in her 90s. Also the woman who posed for the “Rosie the Riveter” poster just passed, she too, was in her 90s.

Dumb things pass through my mind all the time. One was – if a Caucasian person born in South Africa becomes a U. S. citizen is he an African-American?

I’ve been dragging this post out all day – it is now 5:30 and it is raining here pretty good. And looking at the weather channels and the on line weather reports looks like we won’t be leaving tomorrow either as this storm will be going right along the I-40 most of tomorrow. But by Monday all looks good.

Glad we’re not home as the weather looks bad there – at least a little south of where we live. 

Rain in Vegas.

We had rain here in Vegas yesterday – not once but twice. 

We were woken up by a short but heavy rain. And then again in the afternoon a big black cloud passed over dumping heavy rain on Southeast Vegas. And that is where we were. When we got back to the RV park it was completely dry. No rain there.

Stopped at the grocery store and ordered a dozen egg bagels to pick up Saturday morning. Will freeze them – at least he’ll have some for a while. If we had one of the new Food Savers we could vacuum pack them. But ours will just suck the air right out of them.

We’ll for sure be leaving here Sunday morning. And looks like we’ll be following a cold front east.  Night temps across northern Arizona and New Mexico will be in the 20-30s for the few days we’ll be going through. Won’t warm up till we get in the lower altitudes. Brrr – Bill needs to dig out his gloves and beanie.

Almost 200 days since we left home. Way too long.

Have you been "food insecure"?

Another few days of not doing very much. So not much to write about.

We’re still here in Vegas. Today I went out to lunch and shopping with my girl friend. So much fun to have “girl time.”

Bill stayed home and watched Barcelona win another game and make it into the semi-finals of the Champions League.

I read something today that had me scratching my head. It was about children who don’t have enough to eat. What surprised me was the wording of the story. The children were called “food insecure.” Who the heck came up with that – food insecure! That’s a little too PC – no more comments on that.

Just read a good chick book by Wendy Wax “Ten Beach Road” Very good and I just got the sequel.

We were thinking of leaving here on Thursday now that we’re not looking for houses any more. No we didn’t buy anything. Just decided to wait until we really know if we’ll be moving here or not. Got to go home first. Anyway back to the leaving – checked the weather and it is going to be nasty across the I-40 through Arizona until Sunday so we might as well stay here till then.

Yesterday afternoon a lot of the RVs here left – we were almost by ourselves back here. But new ones poured in all day today. Only a couple of empty spaces now. Kept me amused watching some of them parking. Surprised there aren’t more divorces in the RV marriages. One couple was really funny. She would motion him to go one way and he’d go the other. Finally she threw her hands in the air and climbed back in their car while he finished backing into the narrow space.

And that’s about it for now.
