New Camera is Here

I got my new camera   a Sony WX80 – WOW! It does all kinds of neat things – if I can get them figured out that is.  And it is small, can easily go in a pocket – it is half the size of my computer mouse - about the size of a deck of cards.
Just a random bunch of shots while I was playing with my new camera.
The macro setting is automatic. As the lense got closer to the creamer the macro came on –I could barely read this with my glasses on. We went out to breakfast so I could practice.
Going down the road at 45 mph - out the front window of the car. Good focusing.
Again moving about 55 miles per hour – the red truck was moving too.
Standing on the back porch zooming down towards the pond.
And all the special effects – amazing – Watercolor effect of neighbors house
Watercolor effect of our house.
Don't know when I'll ever really use these effects but they are kind of fun.
Oil painting effect of our house.
Illustration effect of trees and meadow. kind of like this one. Maybe I can get Bill to take me down by the covered bridge if the sun stays out.
And I’m just beginning to figure it out. There is a high sensitivity setting for indoor or out with low light. Took a picture in Bill's closet and can see all the clothes.
16.2 mega pixels, 8x optical zoom, 16x digital zoom, wide angle lense, panoramic shots. Burst shots of 10.  3D capable if you have a 3D TV [which we don’t and won’t] HD video. And lots more.
It picks up our wifi and connects automatically to my computer to download the pictures. Also connects to computer with USB - which is way I'll probably be doing it mostly.
Now I want to go somewhere to really use it. Can’t wait.
I’m also trying to knit using two colors of yarn – making myself a scarf. Then going to practice purl and knit purl.
As you can see from the pictures today – at least this morning – the sun was out and the sky was blue, clouding up and getting cooler now though.

  1. Wow! And I thought your photos were amazing now! You are going to be completely unstoppable. :) And we will all get to be the benefactors of your talent. I love the watercolor and the illustration effects. It would be interesting to see some of your southwestern/route 66 photos done in that way. Very cool! And you deserve it!

  4. Have fun with the smile detection. When I got my Sony I met a friend for coffee and to show it to him. He pushed the "smile" button, but nothing happend, then he set it on the table. A few seconds later, some stranger across the room smiled, and the camera detected it and took a picture. Good for when you want a self portrait, but more than 10 seconds later. I didn't realize it until 3 weeks later, but if you take a panorama, and want to see more than just a strip through the center of the screen, hit the "o.k." button, and it will scroll through with the full height. Have fun.
