Stepping around Mazatlan.

A beautiful morning here in Mazatlan. It cooled down really nice last night and it looks like the weather for the next week at least will be perfect.
We walked across the street this morning, yes walked – need to do more of that, to the Torres hotel for breakfast. Unfortunately there was an event going on in the beachside open restaurant so we had to sit in the dining room. The view from there.

There have been some changes to the hotel. A new wall out front and a new wall along the beach. Lots of new grass. But as pretty as ever.
Saw this growing in the front of the campground when we were coming home. How tropical!
Going to put up some Christmas decorations today if I can remember where I put them. Found my window stickers and table mats and got them up. Basically just going to take it easy today. Or so I thought. We had to go to an ATM to get money for the month's rent here. So once we were in the car...keep going right. Ended in Centro Historico again. Parked the car and walked to the Plazuela Machado and had lunch. Delicious Italian Chicken Salad - it is so big we split one. While there we watched a photo shoot of some sort. Lots of different poses but none facing us.
And this pretty little girl with her family.
Then we rode up to the look out point. Passed this on the way. It has been there for a long time but I always forget to take a picture of it.
Not time for the sunset yet but still a pretty view.
I thought this was interesting. I'd like to know the what and why and who of it. Quite intricate.
So many things are hard to get used to - like the police cars always having their light lit and blinking when they are occupied. Don't want to get behind on - the lights are really bright. And don't want to be in front of one 'cause you always wonder "what did I do?" If they do want to stop you they whop their siren.
Then we came home. Did manage to get 5,300 steps in today. Lots better then the last couple of days. In for the night. Tomorrow night we are going out for dinner in the Plazuela Machado to listen to our friend play and sing.

  1. Happy you arrived safely to Mazatlan and Las Jaibas. Is the park very full - do you think RV travelers are fewer this year. And those ribs look delicious!

    1. Fewer rigs here - even some regulars not here. Price of diesel is almost double US. But weather sure is nicer

  2. Google Mexican New Year Traditions for Luck - there are two for the color of underwear to wear on New Years Eve. Red to have luck with love and yellow to have luck with money. Could that be the source for the trees decorated with the colorful underwear - well maybe!

  3. I have heard about that tradition for about 14 years now. Many ask what color you choose to wear on January 1st. Certain that the store is trying to sell underwear. Cute idea.

    Welcome back to Mazatlan.
